willPower & grace™
Does an eclectic infusion of cardio, strength, flexibility, and core exercise target your goals? Then, leave your sneaks at the door and enjoy a willPower & grace class! Done in the modern spirit, this is a barefoot workout. Instructor Steffanie Park shares how this dynamic class can have life-changing effects.
Steffanie has taught a variety of formats in the Group Fitness industry over many years. However, learning and teaching willPower & grace has provided her with a unique experience. “I have grown tremendously as an instructor, and been blessed by the opportunity to witness impressive advances in my students,” shares Steffanie. “It’s been a great reward to watch participants grow more confident and fit before my own eyes (and energized body),” says Steffanie.
This class encourages members to move beyond their comfort zones, learn their true capabilities, and obtain the most from every workout. More than simply a class, willPower & grace is a fitness program that promotes ambitious goals. As a standard part of any fitness routine, it can help one function with greater confidence and agility. Some also consider it a cardiovascular solution for yoga and Pilates practitioners.
Created in 1999 by fitness professional Stacey Lei Krauss, willPower & grace has earned four stars from Health magazine and holds an esteemed East Coast Alliance One Body One World Award. Today, the class is represented nationwide by skilled, motivated fitness professionals. “We’re thrilled to offer this in our Group Fitness program. It’s a true asset to members,” states Regional Fitness Director Cheryl Ziegler.
Steffanie’s Story
Aside from growing as an instructor, willPower & grace has changed Steffanie as an exerciser and a woman. In February 2008, a skiing accident left her with a dislocated knee and torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), one of the four major ligaments of the knee. As a strength and conditioning coach, fitness instructor, and lover of all things fitness, this was a devastating injury. When attending the willPower & grace certification in December 2008, she was only eight months post-op. “I will never forget how my knee shook like a leaf in the wind at the beginning of the cardio legs-turnout section,” Steffanie confides.
“Since practicing willPower & grace on a regular basis, my knee strength and stability have improved exponentially. My abdominals and low back are more stable. My feet, ankles, and hips are stronger than ever, too,” attests this instructor who practices what she teaches. She hopes to eliminate her dependency on shoe insoles as she slowly begins to decrease use of them. “I have had to work extremely hard during the past year to rehabilitate my knee,” states Steffanie, happily reporting that she is 100 percent back to normal now. “In fact,” she adds, “Sometimes I am better than ever.”
“willPower & grace has made an immense difference in my life. I am more confident in myself and I know how to safely obtain maximum results from my body,” says Steffanie. “Undoubtedly, this class is one of the best challenges I’ve ever undertaken. I want to make that happen for others. I want this class to help improve members’ lives as much as I have improved mine through this fitness method,” she assures.
